Teal Bathroom Wall Tile
Torrance
About This Project
This bathroom wall tile replacement in a Torrance townhome involved removing the original small-format ceramic that had developed cracked grout joints and visible mold staining in the tub surround area. After demo, the drywall behind the tub was found to be moisture-damaged and was replaced with cement board before any new tile was installed. The teal rectangular ceramic was chosen by the homeowner to give the compact bathroom a strong color identity while keeping the upper portion of the wall in a lighter value to maintain brightness. The tile was installed in a running bond pattern with white grout to keep the joints from reading too heavily against the bold tile color. The tub surround area received a full liquid waterproofing treatment before tiling because the cement board alone is not a waterproofing layer in a wet application. This is a common point of confusion in bathroom remodels, and one we always address in the estimate conversation.
